Daisy Flowers

Daisies are simply, well-known flowers that are both beautiful and cheerful. Whist they may be the most common flower you come across, daisies are still a much loved flower in the floral world. The name of this flower literally means day’s eye. The reason the Anglo Saxons called them this is because daisies open when the day just begins. The daisy flower symbolizes purity and innocence. It can also signify a new start in life.

The daisy flower is made up of white petals and a yellow center. Sometimes the daisy can become pink. However, there are many varieties of daisies; Tatarian Daisy, Painted Daisy, Paris daisy, Shasta Daisy, and Crown-Daisy are just a few varieties of the enormous range of daisies.

Daises are one of the easiest flowers to grow. You certainly do not have to be an expert gardener to be able to plant and grow them. Most of the time, they are grown right from seeds and they can be directly planted into a flower bed. The best area to grow your daises is in a sunny spot because they thrive on sunshine. You must make sure before you begin to seed them that the soil in which they will be grown is well drained and rich. To do this you must add plenty of compost to the soil. Although daises thrive on sunshine, they should be watered regularly and shaded occasionally if the sun is particularly hot. When it comes to planting the seeds, you must make sure that they are planted approximately 11 inches apart. In the first month after planting them it would be a good idea to add fertilizer. Make sure that your daises are watered regularly when dry spells occur.

Luckily, insects and other pests do not touch daises most of the time. If they do happen to bother them, treat them with a fungicide to get rid of them. You should remember to add plenty of mulch around the daises during the cold months to ensure they are well protected.
